The raw material in our products is hand collected in the wilderness of Iceland
We make contracts to farmers and landowners in various parts of the country. They collect the plant, dry it and clean it before they send it to us for further production.
The company Fagvörur in Hafnafjördur receives all collected raw material. In Fagvörur the Iceland Moss is milled and changed into Iceland Moss extract that is the basic of most of our end products.
Quality control
We instruct the collectors to use good working methods for collecting, drying and storing the plant. We emphasize good conduct on the Iceland Moss heaths to prevent excessive exploitation of the fields from unnecessary trampling and mass collection in small areas.
Samples from each batch of plants are tested according to regulations of the Nordic Committee on Food Analysis. That requires determination of aerobic microorganisms, mould and yeasts in the dry plant.
